Vaccination schedule

All of our dogs and puppies are on a vaccine and deworming schedule to ensure optimal health

For Puppies

Our puppies receive vaccination at 6, 9. 12 and 16 weeks of age, and a booster at one year. Puppies receive all age appropriate vaccinations while they are here with us, with the exception of a circumstance in which transport of the puppy is scheduled within a week of the puppy's vaccination. That is too much stress on the puppy immune system, so we will hold off on giving that vaccine. ALL puppies receive their 6 week vaccines here.

Each puppy also receives a comprehensive deworming treatment after that initial vaccine is given. We treat with Safeguard and Ponazuril at 6-7 weeks of age, and may treat again, as needed, if a puppy is going home later than 8 weeks of age. These treatments are broad spectrum and work for all parasites except tape worms. We have never had tape worms, but are prepared to treat on an as needed basis in the even that we should see symptoms of tapeworms.

When you get your puppy, we will provide a vaccination record and a worming card that will have dates and products administered listed on it. You will also receive a very detailed email explaining it all. You will need to complete your puppy's vaccination schedule and get his 9, 12 and 16 week vaccinations, as well as the rabies vaccination. Please do not give the rabies vaccine at the same time that other vaccines are given. We prefer to wait till closer to 6 months of age for the rabies vaccine, if at all possible.

For Adults

All adults have completed their puppy vaccination series, including the one year booster. After that, the females receive annual boosters to support healthy immunity in their puppies. The males receive boosters only as needed, as research shows that once vaccinated as puppies, most dogs will hold lifetime immunity.

All adult are dewormed monthly with Safeguard or Advantage Multi. Ponazuril and other products are administered on an as needed basis.
