| All of our dogs and puppies are on a comprehensive vaccination and preventative medicine schedule. See below for details. For our puppies We begin our preventative worming treatments at the age of two weeks. We use Nemex, also known as Strongid T or Pyrantel Pamoate. Our puppies receive their worming treatments every two weeks until they are7 weeks old. At that time, we switch to Advantage Multi because it protects against fleas and intestinal parasites. Puppies receive that once monthly until they leave us. Our vaccination series begins at 4 weeks of age. The puppies receive a parvo only vaccination at this age. We vaccinate at the age of 6 weeks with a 5 way vaccine (Adenovirus 2, which provides cross immunity for Hepatitis, Distemper, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza.) Vaccinations continue at three week intervals until the pups leave us, or until 12 weeks of age, at which time the puppy shot series is complete. For older puppies, a rabies vaccination may also be given, especially if the puppy is to be shipped, as the rabies vaccine is mandatory in order for a health certificate to be issued for puppies 12 weeks of age or older. When you get your puppy, you will also receive his health record, which will have listed every vaccine and worming treatment your puppy will have received, along with dates and the puppy's age when given. For our adult dogs Once our dogs have completed their puppy series, we maintain yearly rabies vaccinations done by our vet, and boosters with the same 5 way vaccine described above. In addition, we use Advantage Multi on our adults because not only does it protect against fleas and intestinal parasites, but it also is a heartworm preventative. |
